In 2011 Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, a Seattle cheese manufacturer, commissioned Anna Dibble to paint an installation of 5 paintings for their new 8,000 square foot cheese factory, retail store, and restaurant in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. The paintings are installed in ‘The Cellar’, a wine bar and restaurant where people gather to eat fine cheeses, charcuterie, and other delicacies, while sipping a glass of Pinot or Martini. This special series of paintings involves cheese and food animals in social situations, enjoying food and drink as they eavesdrop on each other. Also featured in the paintings are members of the human species, such as Stanford White, the notorious architect of the ‘Gilded Age’ brick building at 800 Broadway and 20th Street where Beecher’s NY is located.
